The first conversation with VIS.finance™ is free, online, and carries no obligation. Its purpose is to work out whether we are the right fit for your situation before either of us commits to anything.

What the free consultation covers

  • What you are trying to achieve. Mortgage strategy, wealth accumulation, retirement planning, KiwiSaver, an investment portfolio, or a decision you are weighing up right now.
  • Where you are starting from, in outline. Enough for us to understand the scope, not a full financial disclosure.
  • How we would approach it, and which of our services would actually apply to you.
  • Your questions about how we work, including fees, independence and what you would receive.

There is no pressure and no sales pitch. At the end of it you decide whether to go further, and it is a perfectly normal outcome to decide not to.

What it does not cover

This is a discovery step, and it is not personalised financial advice. We do not give recommendations or projections at this stage. That is deliberate rather than cautious: real advice needs a complete picture of your assets, risk profile and cashflow, and anything offered before that is guesswork dressed up as advice.

What happens if we go ahead

If we are a good fit, we agree the scope of work and the fee in writing, upfront, before any work starts. Depending on what you need, that is usually one of three things:

  • A one-off Statement of Advice. A written, personalised plan you own and can act on, whether or not you continue with us.
  • Implementation support. Help putting the plan into effect, including broker setup where that applies.
  • Ongoing review and advice support. For situations that need revisiting as circumstances change.

What it costs

The consultation itself costs nothing. Beyond it, fees are quoted upfront for the scope you agree, so you know the number before you commit.

The whole fee structure is published, including the fixed fee for a written plan: what a financial adviser costs in New Zealand.

We receive no commissions and no product incentives. Nobody pays us to recommend their product, which means the advice has no reason to point anywhere except at your interests. It also means our fee is the whole cost to you, with nothing recovered quietly from a product later.

That claim is worth checking rather than believing, including ours: what independent and no-commission actually mean.

There is no fixed minimum, though advice is usually most effective once you have meaningful savings or investments to manage, typically from NZD 50,000. If you are still building your first investment base, say so and we will tell you honestly whether paying for advice now is worth it.
